Mission Statement:
The primary mission of the Bernalillo County Sheriff's Department includes the protection of life and property; resolution of conflict; creating and maintaining a feeling of security in the community; proactively reducing the opportunities for the commission of crime; identification, apprehension and prosecution of offenders of laws; and the preservation of peace. We accept as part of our msision to work and preserve a quality of life in our community.
Services (What We Do):
The customer we serve is the safety and welfare of the general public of Bernalillo County. As with any business, we value and respect the needs of our customers and continously strive to provide them with public safety services in an effective, efficient and timely manner.
Enacting Legislation:
New Mexico State Statute 4-41-2. The sheriff shall be conservator of the peace within his county; shall suppress assaults and batteries, and apprehend and commit to jail, all felons and traitors, and cause all offenders to keep the peace and to appear at the next term of the court and answer such charges as may be preferred against them.

The Bernalillo County Sheriff's Department is hosting a series of citizen firearm safety classes in the month of June.
The Bernalillo County Sheriff's Department, along with other law enforcement agencies, will be at the Metro Teen Court's Public Safety Day on May 25, 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. at Target, 6100 Paseo del Norte NE, just east of I-25.
In celebration of the 7th Annual Officer Street Training survival training class, there will be fundraiser held at Golden Corral March 25-26.
The Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Department will be holding a public auction of levied property on March 8, at 10 a.m. at 2400 Broadway SE.
