    Youth BLAST Drop-In Center

    The Youth BLAST Drop-In Center is a collaborative partnership with more than 14 nonprofit agencies, local alternative charter high school students, Bernalillo County’s Behavioral Health Initiative and the City of Albuquerque.

    Serenity Mesa Recovery Center Announces Expansion to Include Services for Young Women

    Starting in September, Serenity Mesa, a local non-profit and recovery center will be growing their impact on recovery by expanding their services to include an eight-bed facility for young women (ages 14-21) who are living with a substance use disorder.

    Resource Re-entry Center: Thousands of Released Inmates to Benefit from Re-entry Support Every Year

    On May 22, 2018, Bernalillo County leaders officially opened the county’s new Resource Reentry Center [RRC], a first stop for individuals released from the Metropolitan Detention Center as they reintegrate into the community. The RRC will help former offenders navigate the transition from jail to society by offering access to the services and support they may need to stabilize, stay healthy, regain self-sufficiency, and break the cycle of recidivism.

    Four New Peer Support Drop-In Centers to Launch in Bernalillo County

    On Sept. 14, 2018, Commissioner Maggie Hart Stebbins and Bernalillo County Manager Julie Morgas Baca announced the $300,000 in contracts, the plans, and the providers, New Day and Albuquerque Center for Hope and Recovery [ACHR].

    Behavioral Health Initiative Program Aims to Prevent Youth Homelessness

    On May 11, 2018, Bernalillo County announced the Behavioral Health Initiative’s latest program - Youth Transitional Living Services. Bernalillo County presented New Day, YDI, Casa Q, and Serenity Mesa with a ‘big check’ for $800,000 to incorporate the program into their operations.

    Mission Statement

    To improve behavioral health outcomes and reduce the incidence of driving while intoxicated in Bernalillo County through innovative, cohesive and measurable programs, treatment services and supports aimed at preventing the incidence of crisis and substance use disorder.
    The three divisions of the Behavioral Health Services Department are Behavioral Health, Substance Abuse, and Driving While Intoxicated.
