BernCo Commission Approves South Valley Pool Renovations

Bernalillo County’s South Valley Pool is scheduled to undergo a major renovation soon.

The Bernalillo County Board of Commissioners on Jan. 26, 2016 approved a construction agreement for $568,886 to replace the pool gutter and deck, provide electrical upgrades and install a new circulation and chlorination system. The outdoor pool was closed in 2015 for needed repairs.

The project is scheduled for completion in summer 2016. Funding comes from Bernalillo County and state capital outlay funds sponsored by the New Mexico Legislature.

“I want to thank my colleagues from the Bernalillo County Commission and the New Mexico Legislature for their support as we work to reopen the South Valley Pool,” Commission Chair Art De La Cruz says. “Our pools and community centers are critical to promoting health and safety and our overall quality of life in Bernalillo County.”

The South Valley Pool is an outdoor pool located at 3912 Isleta Blvd. SW. The scheduled improvements will allow the pool to open this summer.
