04/16/2021

Bernalillo County’s hardest hit zip codes for coronavirus (COVID-19) cases is getting some help from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the New Mexico Department of Health.

FEMA is providing one of its tent trailers to the county to for use as a vaccination site, starting in the South Valley.

The trailer is located at Las Estancias Center near Rio Bravo and Coors through today and next week will move to the county West Side Community Center at 1250 Isleta Blvd, SW.

The 87121 and 87105 zip codes, both in the South Valley, have the two highest numbers of coronavirus cases in the county.

“These are a lot of the frontline workers in food establishments and stores and have had some of the highest exposure,” says County Commission Vice Chair Steven Michael Quezada.  “The chance to bring the vaccinations to the people, right in their neighborhood, should be a great step in helping these residents Get the Shot.”

Anyone wishing to get the coronavirus vaccine just needs to drive up to the FEMA Trailer location and fill out the paperwork.

Beginning the week of April 24, the trailer will shift to the City of Albuquerque for use in the International District.
