BernCo Commission Proclaims Oct. 22 as the Bicentenary of the Birth of Bahá’u’lláh

The Bernalillo County Board of Commissioners does hereby proclaim Sunday, Oct. 22, 2017 as the Bicentenary of the Birth of Bahá’u’lláh in Bernalillo County and urges all residents to resolve on this day to: promote themselves and in their relations with others those qualities and attributes that will help bring about the recognition of the oneness of humanity; to embrace diversity; and to work for unity in our local community, in our country, and in the world.

The Bahá’í community of Bernalillo County was established in 1972.

In the nineteenth century, Bahá’u’lláh, the founder of the Bahá’í Faith, brought a message of the human dignity, capacity and oneness suited to the requirements of contemporary life, and October 22, 2017 marks the two-hundredth anniversary of the birth of Báha’u’lláh.

Since 1972, the Bahá’í community of Bernalillo County has striven to apply this vision of the material and spiritual life of the world, collaborating with others to promote unity and to serve their fellow citizens.

The Bahá’ís of Bernalillo County and their families, friends, neighbors, and colleagues are commemorating this bicentenary, along with Bahá’ís across the United States and around the world.
