BernCo Commission Passes County Wellness Act Resolution

11/13/2019

Bernalillo County Commissioners passed a resolution directing county Procurement and Business Services to establish disclosure procedures for vendors doing business with the county.

The resolution incorporates vendor requirements under the newly established paid time off ordinance, which takes effect in 2020.

The new resolution will require vendors to meet the paid time off standards for any procurement exceeding $20,000, excluding New Mexico gross receipts tax or for tangible personal property, services or construction. This requirement does not apply to sole source and emergency procurements, utilization of an existing non-county contract and exempt procurements.

“This resolution makes sure that all business owners and prospective business partners of the county are adhering to the same standards, says Commission Chair Maggie Hart Stebbins.

Bernalillo County Economic Development will also update its finance policy and procedures to require all applicants of county economic development financing to be consistent with the Bernalillo County Employee Wellness Act.

The resolution passed on a 5 to 0 vote.
