BernCo Commission Recognizes National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week

At its meeting on April 10, the Board of County Commissioners acknowledged April 8-14, 2018 as National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week and recognize that our health, safety, and well-being often depends upon the commitment and steadfast dedication of our public safety telecommunicators.

Emergencies can occur at any time that require law enforcement, fire or emergency medical services and when an emergency occurs its prompt response is critical to the protection of life and preservation of property.

The safety of our police officers and firefighters is dependent upon the quality and accuracy of information obtained from citizens who telephone the Bernalillo County Emergency Communications Department.

Public Safety Telecommunicators are the first and most critical contact our citizens have with emergency services and are the single vital link for our law enforcement officers and firefighters by monitoring their activities by radio, providing them information and insuring their safety.

Public Safety Telecommunicators of the Bernalillo County Emergency Communications Department have contributed substantially to the apprehension of criminals, suppression of fires, and treatment of patients and each dispatcher has exhibited compassion, understanding and professionalism during the performance of their job in the past year.
