District 5

Charlene Pyskoty was sworn in as District 5 County Commissioner on Jan. 1, 2019. 

On Jan. 12, 2021, Commissioner Pyskoty was elected Bernalillo County Board Chair.

Charlene Pyskoty is a licensed mental health therapist in private practice. Her office is in Albuquerque, and her home is in Tijeras, where she lives with her husband, three horses, two dogs, a cat, and four goldfish. Charlene is on both sides of her district every day and appreciates the geographic and demographic diversity of District 5.

In addition to a master’s degree in counseling, Charlene has also earned master’s degrees in public health and sociology. She has been successfully self-employed for most of her career, as well as working in such diverse industries as academic and market research, advertising and publishing, and education. She loves research and data, and she loves helping her community thrive.

After working with people one-on-one for 15 years as a therapist, Charlene decided to serve her community in a bigger way, and ran for Bernalillo County Commissioner in 2018.

From a military veteran and law enforcement family, Charlene looks forward to using her skills, knowledge, and experience to improve the county, especially around behavioral health, public health, and criminal justice.

With her background in business, she hopes to help build a successful and prosperous environment that uplifts the entire county.
