Commissioner Johnson Leads October Trade Mission to Israel

Bernalillo County Commissioner Wayne A. Johnson will be leading a trade mission to Israel on Oct.10-20, 2015. The mission is sponsored by the New Mexico Israel Business Exchange (NMBIE) and the New Mexico Association of Commerce and Industry (ACI).

The trade delegation will be meeting with the mayor of Rehovot, Albuquerque’s sister city and representatives of the Weizmann Institute, a leader in converting research technology into practical applications. Meetings have also been scheduled with other key business and government leaders.

The trade mission will also participate in the Water Technology and Environmental Control Conference, which is bringing together Israeli and international business executives, and political decision-makers to review advanced technologies and solutions to some of the most pressing water issues facing all countries.

“Israel and New Mexico are very similar in that the energy, aerospace and technology industries are key players in our economic environment.  In fact, we do more business with Israel than with any other non-neighboring country,” Johnson said. “Further, Israel has been on the cutting edge of developing and implementing technology, which focuses on solving water quality issues. I am certain that we will be able to utilize their expertise to address some of our water issues.”

Joining Commissioner Johnson on the trip will be representatives from Aqua Research, Preferred Produce EcoFarms, and IX Power Clean Water.
