Welcome to the Bernalillo County Fire Department, which is made up of twelve fire districts and stations throughout Bernalillo County. 

TBCFD Training Tower Ribbon Cuttinghe department was established on September 15, 1958, and has grown from a single station department to a fully paid, twelve- district department that staffs an average of five to seven paid personnel per station, twenty four hours a day, seven days a week. The stations are covered by a combination of fire and medical personnel, 24/7, 365 days a year. The shifts consist of 24 hours on and 48 hours off. There are a total of 225 firefighters, with 209 of them being sworn positions. The positions rank from firefighter up to fire chief. 

All stations and fire districts are staffed at the ALS (Advanced Life Support) level. Each firefighter has medical training and must be licensed in either the EMT-Basic, Intermediate or Paramedic level.
