Increased Resources for Property Owners Comes to Bernalillo County Assessor’s Office

10/30/2018

The Bernalillo County Assessor’s Office has taken pride in its personalized touch when it comes to customer service whether in person or electronically. A recent partnership with Smartloop, a tech startup in Albuquerque, has created a way to have a personalized conversation with Bernalillo County property owners and guide them to find exactly what they are searching for on the Assessor’s webpage in the most efficient manner. Assessor Tanya R. Giddings launched new artificial intelligence chatbot technology that allows the office to provide property owners 24/7 access on their property assessment questions, provide access to property tax saving programs, as well as many other office resources on the Bernalillo County website.

“We want to offer technologies to connect with our property owners using their preferred communication methods even when our office is closed,” said County Assessor Tanya R. Giddings. “Property owners should be able to contact us whenever they want and however they want including email, social media, and on our website with the automated chatbot.”

With hundreds of views to the assessor website each day, the team analyzed years of customer behaviors to lead up to the soft launch of this new tool. Currently, close to 10 percent are using the new technology since its soft launch in late August. View the chatbot tool at www.bernco.gov/assessor.

In addition, the Assessor’s Office created a page on its website for new homeowners. The new page guides homeowners through the process of property searches, important dates, what a Notice of Value is, property tax savings programs and more. View the new informational page at For New Homeowners.

The new chatbot tool and other resources are available on the website to help property owners understand their property assessments and now that property tax bills will be mailed Nov. 1, 2018. The due date for the first half of the tax bill is Nov. 10 and are delinquent after Dec. 10, 2018.
