Bernalillo County – Bernalillo County’s 2021 Summer Lunch Program will begin Tuesday, June 1 and will run until Aug. 6.
This marks the 48th year of the free lunch program offering healthy meals to children and teens at churches, parks, community centers, and apartment complexes across the county.
Bernalillo County will provide nearly 150,000 meals this year. No registration is required for the program.
- Participants must be one to 18 years of age to receive a meal.
- Grab and Go is still the way we will conduct service this year.
- Participants must receive an entire meal, including milk.
- All meals are issued on a first come, first served basis.
The 32 county summer lunch locations are outside Albuquerque city limits in unincorporated parts of Bernalillo County, including the South Valley, North Valleys, East Mountains, and Paradise Hills. The locations are chosen based on the percentage of children receiving free and reduced school lunches in that area.
Bernalillo County’s Summer Lunch Program is funded by a U.S. Department of Agriculture grant administered by the state Children, Youth and Families Department.
The meals are prepared at the Albuquerque Public Schools central kitchen and delivered to sites around the county.
The county program is separate from the City of Albuquerque’s program. The City of Albuquerque will serve summer lunches at many sites within the city.
