Governing Bodies with Commissioner Participation

A joint county/city commission that meets for the purpose of discussing topics of common interest, long-range goals, community needs and other items as requested.

Oversees all issues relating to the provision of water and sewer services in Bernalillo County. The Authority was created by the state Legislature in 2003.

The regional and metropolitan planning organization for Central New Mexico. Twenty-one local governments are members of MRCOG; county commissioners serve on the Board of Directors, Executive Board, Metropolitan Transportation Board, Middle Rio Grande Water Resources Board, Transportation Management Area Committee, Rio Metro Transit District Board and Workforce Connection of Central New Mexico.

A joint partnership agreement with Albuquerque Public Schools, the City of Albuquerque, and the Albuquerque Business Education Compact. Its purpose is to increase parent involvement, student academic achievement and overall quality of life through the creation and support of cooperative and collaborative working relationships with the schools and the business community, social service agencies, government agencies, faith-based organizations, civic groups, neighborhood associations and post-secondary institutions.

Innovate ABQ, Inc. was established by the Board of Regents of UNM in late 2014 as a non-profit, 501 (c) 3 corporation under the aegis of the New Mexico University Research Park and Economic Development Act. The corporation is currently governed by an 11-person Board of Directors, and has assumed ownership of the Core Site that initially was purchased with funding provided by UNM, the City of Albuquerque, Bernalillo County, Nusenda Credit Union and U.S. Economic Development Administration through STC.UNM. Innovate ABQ is being developed as a premier Downtown innovation district for researchers, inventors and entrepreneurs. This new entrepreneurial hub will be anchored by a core research and business incubation site at Central and Broadway.
