Early Voting On Memorial Day

Clerk Linda Stover reminds voters that early voting convenience centers will be open on Memorial Day, Monday, May 25, 2020 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

“Voting on Memorial Day is a thoughtful way to honor the fallen and their families who have sacrificed so much for this country,” said Clerk Linda Stover. “And with the social distancing requirements we’re working with, we need in-person voters to vote early so we can avoid a last minute rush on Election Day.”

17 Early Voting Convenience Centers are open May 16-30, 2020. Most locations are open Monday to Saturday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., including Memorial Day, Monday, May 25, 2020. In accordance with a state public health emergency order designed to minimize the risk of spreading COVID-19 through in-person voting and in accordance with the Election Code, there are fewer voting convenience centers, fewer poll workers and fewer voters allowed inside each location at the same time. Poll workers are wearing personal protective equipment and the Clerk requests that all voters wear a face covering or mask. In-person voters are urged to make a deliberate plan to vote early and avoid a last minute rush to the polls.

It’s not too late to vote absentee. The New Mexico Secretary of State mailed absentee ballot applications to all major party registered voters. Voters are urged to complete the application immediately and return it by mail using the postage paid envelope provided. If an application has not arrived by mail, a major party voter may complete the application online. The deadline to request an absentee ballot is May 28, 2020. And absentee ballots must be received by mail or hand delivered to a voting convenience center by 7 p.m. on Election Day, June 2, 2020.
