    Absentee Voting Recommendation

    05/27/2020

With the June 2, 2020 primary election fast approaching, Clerk Linda Stover offers a recommendation on absentee voting.

“If you have not yet mailed your absentee ballot, I recommend you complete it, put it in the envelope, and hand-deliver it to a voting convenience center during early voting or on Election Day,” said Clerk Linda Stover. “And while tomorrow is the deadline to apply for an absentee ballot, the ballots go out by mail. So voters applying today or tomorrow will have to wait for their ballot to arrive by mail. Another option is to put on a mask, wash your hands and go to a voting convenience center to vote in person.”

17 Early Voting Convenience Centers are open May 16-30, 2020. Most locations are open Monday to Saturday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., including Memorial Day. In accordance with a state public health emergency order designed to minimize the risk of spreading COVID-19 through in-person voting and in accordance with the Election Code, there are fewer voting convenience centers, fewer poll workers and fewer voters allowed inside each location at the same time. Poll workers are wearing personal protective equipment and the Clerk requests that all voters wear a face covering. In-person voters are urged to vote early to avoid a last minute rush at the polls.

Absentee ballots continue to be mailed to voters who have requested them. Completed absentee ballots must be received by the County Clerk by mail or be hand-delivered to a voting convenience center by 7 p.m. on Election Day, June 2, 2020. With Election Day less than a week away, absentee voters are encouraged to hand-deliver their ballot to a voting convenience center. There are drop boxes at all voting convenience centers to receive completed absentee ballots.
