ABQ Runoff Election Certified

The 2019 Regular Local Election Runoff is complete. Results were presented to the Bernalillo County Board of Canvass on Dec. 16, 2019. The board certified the results which were forwarded to the Secretary of State for state certification.

The Dec. 10, 2019 Runoff Election for City Council Districts 2 and 4 was required under the Top-Two Runoff Election rule which requires candidates for Albuquerque City Council to receive fifty percent or more of the votes cast for the office in question. If no candidate receives 50% of the votes, the two candidates who receive the highest number of votes automatically become the candidates for the runoff election. The District 2 candidates were Isaac Benton and Zackary Quintero. The District 4 candidates were Brook Bassan and Ane Romero. Mr. Benton and Ms. Bassan won the runoff election.

Total voter turnout was 13,479 or 15.98% of all registered voters in Districts 2 and 4.
