BernCo/UNM Celebrate Partnership at North Golf Course


Dignitaries from the University of New Mexico, the State of New Mexico, Bernalillo County, and the UNM North Neighborhood Association will plant a tree and bury a time capsule marking the 20th anniversary year of Bernalillo County Open Space and five years since the creation of the UNM North Golf Course Urban Open Space.

WHEN: Friday, June 1, 2018, 10:30 a.m.

WHERE: UNM North Golf Course Clubhouse, 2201 Tucker, NE, UNM North Campus

The UNM North Golf Course Open Space was created in 2012 as the result of a partnership between the county and UNM to preserve the course as an urban open space and remain undeveloped land.

Improvements completed and pending include:

  • Replacement of golf course irrigation system
  • Improvements to walking/jogging path
  • Piping for reuse of water from university chiller plant
  • Tree removal and replacement
  • Streetscape and fencing
  • Furnishings along trail and interpretive signage

  • Children in grades K-5 are invited to the Youth Beat Dance Camp at the South Valley Multipurpose Center May 28-31 where they will learn a hip hop and funk dance routine.
