Tiny Home Village Community Meeting Scheduled

01/20/2017

BernCo Commissioner Debbie O’Malley and City Councilor Diane Gibson invite the community to a meeting about the planning and development of a tiny home village.

The tiny home village project will engage community members who want to participate and assist the chronically homeless population. The project will work to provide safe and stable housing as well as personal development and support for the homeless.

The community meeting is scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 19 from 5:30 – 7 p.m. at the McKinley Community Center, 3401 Monroe St. NE.

“As a community we can work together to develop stable and dignified housing for our vulnerable street population,” says Commission Chair Debbie O’Malley. “The tiny home village project concept will include community assistance and support to help the chronically homeless return to a life of self-sufficiency.”

“A tiny home village will provide privacy and security to meet the needs of individuals who are homeless,” Councilor Diane Gibson says. “It offers one more transitional housing option to those who have few now.”

Last November, voters approved the 2 million general obligation bond to fund the development of the tiny home village project.
