Bosque Chile Festival: Chile Casas Decorating Contest

As part of this year’s virtual Bosque Chile Festival, organizers are announcing a Chile Casas decorating contest. Residents and businesses are invited to take part in this home/business decorating contest.

Red, green, or Christmas? Contestants can decorate their casas with ristras, piñatas, flags, banners, sidewalk chalk, chile lights, and green and red balloons to show their chile pride.

The contest winner will receive a Bosque Chile Festival Disc-It.

There is no cost to participate.

Contest rules:

  • Must be a New Mexico resident.
  • Be creative by adorning homes with New Mexico chile-themed decorations.
  • To enter the contest, complete the online registration form at www.bernco.gov/bosquechilefestival with an accompanying photo by midnight on Aug. 13, 2020.
  • All entry photos will be displayed on the Bosque Chile Festival Facebook page, ‘Chile Casas’ album beginning Aug. 14, 2020.
  • Be sure to share entry photos via social media during the weekend of the Bosque Chile Festival using the hashtags: #BCF2020ChileCasas, #BCF2020.
  • Winner will be determined by the most "likes" in the ‘Chile Casas’ album on the Bosque Chile Festival Facebook page.
  • Winner to be announced on Monday Aug. 17.
  • Winner is responsible for picking up the Disc-It prize in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
  • For privacy, BernCo will not include home addresses.

The exhibit's curators will discuss the historical framework on voting rights, the importance of voting, and how to exercise your right to vote today.

Rachel (1907-1964) was a marine biologist when few women dared to even tread water. Her early childhood was spent exploring nature in western Pennsylvania. She wrote the book Silent Spring in 1962, which revealed the damaging use of the chemical compound DDT. It was banned in the United States in 1972. Ann Beyke has performed in local film, theater, television, radio plays and as a voice-over artist for over 25 years.
