The Adventures of BernCo Bernie – Out and About in Bernalillo County is Out and About in Bernalillo County

04/13/2018

Third book in the series can be checked out at all city/county public libraries

Bernalillo County, along with the New Mexico Tourism Department and Albuquerque Public Schools, presented BernCo Bernie’s third book, The Adventures of BernCo Bernie – Out and About in Bernalillo County at an official book launch held earlier today.

In the third book of the children’s book series, readers join BernCo Bernie, the spokessheep of Bernalillo County, and his friend Mr. Roadrunner in a red Ford Mustang as they cruise historic Route 66. The pair continue their adventures in Bernalillo County’s open spaces as they explore and keep Bernalillo County clean and beautiful along the way.

“The Adventures of BernCo Bernie book series is an educational and fun way to introduce our children, and even their parents, to the beauty of our BernCo Open Spaces," says Commission Chair Steven Michael Quezada. “The engaging bilingual books help to teach both the child and parent about the diversity, history and culture of Bernalillo County.”

The entire book series is available for check out from all of the city/county public libraries.

The bilingual book was written by Carrie B. Moritomo and Colleen Langan-McRoberts, both employees of Bernalillo County, illustrated by Marcelo Olguin of Albuquerque, and translated into Spanish by Sara T. García of Albuquerque.

The book was funded by a grant from the state Tourism Department’s Keep NM True program and was produced entirely by New Mexico talents.
