Bernalillo County Commission Chair Debbie O'Malley and Albuquerque City Councilor Diane Gibson invite the community to a tiny home village educational forum with special guest speaker Andrew Heben.

Andrew Heben, an urban planner, writer, and tiny house builder based in Eugene, Oregon, will be making a presentation about the concept of tiny home villages and the unique way they contribute to the community.

The educational forum will take place this Thursday, Nov. 2 from 5 – 8 p.m. at the Hiland Theater, 4820 Central Ave. SE. A reception from 5 – 6 p.m. will provide an opportunity for the public to learn more about the concept of tiny homes and important facts about housing the unhoused population. Light appetizers will be provided.

Heben’s presentation will begin at 6 p.m. followed with a question and answer session.

Commissioner Debbie O'Malley and Councilor Diane Gibson are working together with nonprofit organizations and community advocates to find a housing solution for the unhoused people within the city and county.

The Tiny Home Village will provide transitional housing for vulnerable populations who are either experiencing homelessness or are on the cusp of becoming homeless.

Heben has traveled throughout the U.S. to study over a dozen tent cities organized by the homeless, and spent time living at one in Ann Arbor, Michigan known as Camp Take Notice.
