Bernalillo County Dedicates New Public Art Sculpture

There will be a dedication and ribbon-cutting of “Vecinos,” a sculpture by Mark Horst and Working Classroom, Wednesday, Nov. 14 at 2 p.m. at Dolores Huerta Gateway Park, 100 Isleta SW.

BernCo Open Space Seeks Artists for 20th Celebration Event

The Bernalillo County Arts Board is looking for artists to create up to three art installations at Bachechi Open Space for the 20th anniversary celebration event of Bernalillo County Open Space on Sept. 28, 2018. Artists must submit proposals by July 20 to be considered. Artists in all stages of their careers are encouraged to apply, but must reside in Bernalillo County. Finalists will be announced on Aug. 1.

BernCo Commission Approves Purchase Agreement for Asian American Monument Public Art Sculpture

The County Commission approved a motion authorizing an artwork purchase agreement with Cheryll Leo-Gwin and Stewart Wong, creators of the sculpture, "View from Gold Mountain," which will be located on the West side of the Second Judicial District Courthouse.

Artist to Open New Exhibit at Bachechi Open Space

Well-known New Mexico artist, Danielle Rae Miller is putting her latest artwork on display for public viewing. Bernalillo County Public Arts Program and Bernalillo County Open Space will host an opening reception for Miller on Thursday, Jan. 11, 2018 from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Bachechi Environmental Education Building.

Reels and Wheels Documentary

The documentary follows the Reels and Wheels commission by the Arts Board and the design/build process by artist Howard Meehan and culminates with the dedication of the piece in front of the Hiland Theater on Central Avenue on historic Route 66.

  • Teens and children ages 11-19 are invited to participate in Westside Community Center's T33n 3-on-3 basketball each Friday night from 7-10 from March 8 through April 12. Registration begins Jan. 28 and there is no charge to participate. Dinner will be served at 6 p.m. followed by a mandatory 30-minute life skills workshop before the games begin.
