The totally rebuilt Rio Grande Pool opened just in time for the 2015 summer swimming season. Bernalillo County built a new pool so that it will be safe for recreational and competitive swimmers, meet current building and Americans with Disabilities Act requirements, and be more energy efficient. Renovations include a completely new pool designed to provide the high school swim team with a home pool that meets competition standards. In addition to a new pool, the building received a new slide, roof, heating, cooling and ventilation systems.
