Bernalillo County Parks & Recreation’s Aquatics Department operates four pools and two splash pads.

In addition, the aquatics program provides swim lessons, open swim, water aerobics, pool/spray park rentals, water safety instruction, senior water aerobics, lap swimming, swim team, masters swimming, and Red Cross lifeguard training.

Summer public swim ended on Aug. 2. Rio Grande Indoor Pool is now open for winter hours: Monday through Friday from 5-7:30 p.m. and weekends from noon-4:45 p.m.

*PLEASE NOTE THE RIO GRANDE INDOOR POOL WILL BE CLOSED OCT. 7-11 FOR YEARLY MAINTENANCE AND REPAIRS. Please call (505) 314-0169 or (505) 214-0168 with any questions. We apologize for any inconvenience.*

AT ALL FACILITIES, The price for general swimming is $4.25 for adults 18 and over, $3.25 for kids 17 to 6, $2 for kids 5 and under. Spectators are $3. Active duty military and veterans are free (with proof), as are seniors 60 and over.

Credit cards are accepted only at the Rio Grande Pool. Checks and money orders are accepted for pool rentals and swimming lessons only.

Lap Swimming: Monday - Friday 6 a.m. to 8 a.m. and Saturday and Sunday 11 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Recreational Swim: Every day from 12 p.m. to 4:45 p.m.  

County Water Aerobics: Tuesday and Thursday: 10 a.m. - 11 a.m.

The totally rebuilt Rio Grande Pool opened just in time for the 2015 summer swimming season. Bernalillo County built a new pool so that it will be safe for recreational and competitive swimmers, meet current building and Americans with Disabilities Act requirements, and be more energy efficient. Renovations include a completely new pool designed to provide the high school swim team with a home pool that meets competition standards. In addition to a new pool, the building received a new slide, roof, heating, cooling and ventilation systems.

Paradise Pool and Water Slide

The Paradise Hills pool, built in 1974 and recently renovated, features a brand new Kawabunga double loop slalom water slide. This pool facility with ample grassy areas is perfect for birthday pool parties. The facility received new decks and a new pool liner. The pool is 25 yards long by six lanes with a baby pool.

Los Padillas Aquatic Center

The Los Padillas Aquatics Center, built in 2005, consists of a zero-depth pool with a variety of water play features including a large water slide, giant mushroom fountain and other spray features. It is handicap accessible and excellent for pool parties. This facility also has a 25-yard lap pool.

South Valley Pool and Splash Pad

This facility is also home to New Mexico's largest spray park.
