Get on the team! The county's team sports programs feature seasonal play for residents of all ages and abilities. Here, you'll find league information for sports like softball, basketball, running, and volleyball. 


Youth Basketball League Summer 2020

Youth Basketball League registration begins on Monday, Jan. 27, 2020, and runs through Wednesday, March 11, 2020.

  • Forms must contain an original parent/legal guardian signature and must be brought to the sports office at 111 Union Square Street SE Albuquerque, NM 87102 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Please read all pertinent information before signing.
  • The total payment per child must be made in full at the time of registration. The sports office accepts the following forms of payment: debit/credit, checks, and money orders. WE DO NOT ACCEPT CASH.
  • If you are registering your child for the first time, please bring proof of age (DOB). Examples of proof can include but are not limited to: a birth certificate; a shot record; a medical card, etc.
  • If your child has played with County Sports before, but we cannot find your child(ren)’s name(s) in our system, we will request proof of age, which may be later emailed to: argutierrez@bernco.gov
  • If you are applying for the Reduced Rate Registration Program, please keep in mind that spaces are limited and are available on a first-come, first-served basis to eligible families. (Please see below for information on establishing eligibility). Once all allotted spaces are filled for the Summer Season, we will not be able to offer this program again until the Winter Season of YBL, in 2020-21. We encourage you to apply as early as possible before availability ends for this season. Should you have additional questions, you may call (505) 314-0415. Please note the youth basketball registration form is double-sided. All information must be completed.

Application for Reduced Rate Registration

If you are applying for Bernalillo County’s Reduced Rate Registration Program and your family receives SNAP and/or TANF benefits, please review the documents above. If your family does NOT receive such benefits, you may also qualify on the basis of your income. You will need to fill out the application completely and provide all proof requested in order to apply. Please carefully review the Financial Guidelines information to ascertain eligibility.

Notice: Registration for the Reduced Rate Program will begin with regular Youth Basketball League registration on Jan. 27, 2020, and will continue until filled OR end by March 11, 2020. If being accepted, late registration fees will apply to ALL registration applications.

  • Art Along the Rio Grande: Experience Nature Through the Artists' Lens is a visual exploration of the ecological and cultural richness of the South Valley’s Valle de Oro Wildlife Refuge. The exhibit is a joint project of the Refuge, Gutiérrez Hubbell House, Friends of Valle de Oro, Hubbell House Alliance, and Bernalillo County Public Art. Valle de Oro National Wildlife Refuge is the Southwest’s first urban refuge, located in the South Valley, just a few miles south of downtown Albuquerque. The refuge is in the process of restoring a former dairy farm back to a mosaic of native New Mexico habitats in order to provide an oasis for wildlife as well as an abundance of education and recreation opportunities for the community. The exhibit showcases the work of local artists in diverse mediums. For the past 7 years, photographers of all ages and skill levels have been invited to participate in an annual photo contest hosted by the refuge, to capture images of the refuge's wildlife, landscapes and people. This exhibit will feature the winning images from the 2019 photo contest, highlighting the refuge this past year as it begins restoration. Sketches and images from the Fall 2019 field mural project featuring 5 women muralists will be on display at GHH. The murals can still be seen at the Refuge, while sketches, photos, and other works reflect the goals and processes of the artists. Artwork by local Artist Wren Walraven, will also be featured. Wren’s artwork content comes from her personal experiences with wildlife, her passion for those animals and the magical desert scenery. Join us in this celebration of the South Valley’s environmental beauty, creativity, and community connections.
