County Manager

The Bernalillo County Board of County Commissioners routinely develops, discusses and approves legislative policy and capital outlay priorities for the county before the legislative session begins each year. Providing support and advocacy for these priorities is anything but routine this year with the state capitol closed to in-person public access and widespread use of videoconferencing. In lieu of in-person public access, the board is requesting public involvement and support by telephone and email.

“Legislative policy and capital outlay priorities reflect the needs of our community as well as the expertise and values of your county government and are important documents for constituents to read,” says County Manager Julie Morgas Baca. “Whether you support continued assistance for little league or proposed solutions for complex social and public safety concerns, we hope you’ll read our documents and contact your state lawmakers to express support for Bernalillo County priorities that align with your own.”

The county’s legislative policy priorities for the first session of the 55th legislature are expressed in Administrative Resolution No. 2021-3. The county’s legislative capital outlay priorities are expressed in Administrative Resolution No. 2021-4. The board approved both resolutions on January 12, 2021.

Constituents can find contact information for state legislators on the New Mexico Legislature website. If a member of the public has a question for Bernalillo County about any resolution item, please call Chief of Staff to the County Manager Clay Campbell at 505-681-2616.
