BernCo Eases Single-Use Plastic Bag Restrictions

03/31/2020

Bernalillo County Manager Julie Morgas Baca has issued an order suspending the single-use plastic bag ban for 60-days.

The order came via the Bernalillo County emergency management ordinance approved by the County Commission at its March 10 emergency meeting.

“In the interest of safety during the coronavirus Covid-19 shutdown, I’ve lifted the ban so these single-use bags can be put to use,” says Bernalillo County Manager Julie Morgas Baca.

The single-use bags are most frequently used by restaurants and retail establishments and should cut down on the possible spread of COVID-19 which can live on reusable bags, if they not washed immediately after contamination.
