BernCo, CABQ Provide COVID-19 Guidance to Grocery Stores

Bernalillo County and the City of Albuquerque are providing informative resources and guidance to local grocery stores on safe operation and minimizing the spread of coronavirus COVID-19.

The resources explain the symptoms of COVID-19, how to prevent the spread of illness and outline best practices for grocery stores operators and customers. The instructions for grocery stores include:

  • Clean and disinfect all surfaces frequently.
  • Have employees wash hands regularly.
  • Minimize the number of on-site employees.
  • Make sure sick employees stay at home.
  • Limit the number of personal healthcare supplies to minimize shortage.
  • Keep six feet between employees and customers.

All grocery stores in the county and city have received the guidance in English and Spanish. Each store has been asked to adhere to the special precautions.

These best management practices should also be observed at other retail businesses such as home improvement stores, convenience stores and other businesses that are still operating and providing essential services to the community.
