BernCo Produces Shopper Safety Bulletin Shopper Guidance for COVID-19

04/14/2020

Bernalillo County has produced an instructional shopper safety bulletin outlining best behaviors and social distancing for shoppers, to help stop the spread of COVID-19 in the community.

Social distancing is a tactical response to the spread of COVID-19. It is designed to “flatten the curve,” or keep the rate of infections low to avoid overwhelming doctors and hospitals, to save lives.

Certain best behaviors for shoppers during COVID-19 to prevent disease spreading in the community include:

  • Keep a 6-foot distance, or two shopping cart lengths, from other shoppers.
  • Bring hand sanitizer and disinfectant wipes to use on hands and carts.
  • Touch as few objects possible and take goods that are touched.
  • Visit stores only when absolutely necessary to purchase essential items.
  • Bring at most only one other family member to help shop.
  • When returning home, disinfect containers and bags and wash all produce.

The shopper safety bulletin is located at the following links English / Spanish Bernalillo County encourages all stores to share the guidance with customers. Both English and Spanish versions are available.
