Get Advice, a Cut, and a Job

Bernalillo County Commissioner Steven Michael Quezada and Albuquerque City Councilor, Klarissa Peña are sponsoring a two-day career event offering job searching advice, a free haircut and a job fair.

Day one of the event on Sept. 11, features 20-minute workshops designed to help job seekers spruce up their resume, interviewing skills, and appearance.

County Commissioner Steven Michael Quezada says this is a great chance to help people feel good about themselves, and look good too. “It’s the perfect combination of ability and opportunity. We want to give people all of the personal tools to succeed.”

Job seekers who sign up for the seminars will be eligible for a complimentary hair-cut, courtesy of The Avenue Academy.

“This gives job seekers the ability to be fully prepared when they go before company representatives,” says Albuquerque City Councilor Klarissa Peña. “It’s a definite win-win.”

Interested job seekers can register online at: EcoDevEventRSVP@bernco.gov or in person at Westside, Los Padillas, Mountain View, and South Valley Multipurpose Community Centers.

The ‘Steps to Success’ workshops will be Tuesday, Sept. 11 and the career fair will be Friday, Sept. 14, both at the South Valley Multipurpose Community Center at 2008 Larrazolo Rd, SW.
