Accounting and Budget Recognized for Winning Two Awards

On Sept. 10 the Bernalillo County Board of Commissioners and County Manager acknowledged the Accounting and Budget Department for recently receiving two awards from the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA).

Transparency and communication are important responsibilities of local government and are duties of Bernalillo County in order to operate in a fiscally responsible and cooperative manner with residents.

Starting in 1991, the Government Finance Officers Association has operated the Popular Financial Reporting Program to encourage and assist government agencies to organize and prepare accessible financial reports that are understandable to the non-accountant public.

The GFOA judges the excellence of popular annual report presentations based on the clarity, accessibility, completeness and understandability of reporting and publication.

For their outstanding work in preparing the 2017-2018 popular annual financial report, the Accounting and Budget Department was proudly bestowed the GFOA’s Award for Outstanding Achievement in Popular Annual Reporting, the sixth overall time Bernalillo County has received this honor.

Additionally, for their outstanding work in preparing the 2017-2018 annual financial report, the Accounting and Budget Department was proudly bestowed the GFOA’s Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting Program, the 15th consecutive, and 18th overall, time Bernalillo County has received this honor.
