Why is this measure important?

This measure is important because it determines the employment stability of the facility. There is a cost expense associated with recruiting, developing and training new corrections officers. Saving and retaining employees is a cost saving strategy.  
When a veteran officer leaves, knowledge, skills and leadership are also lost.  Knowing turnover rates is also critical in identifying organizational improvement opportunities.

MDC HR retrieves this information the HR Position control from EMPATH; excel spreadsheet

How is the measure calculated?

Total number of correction officer vacancies for 3 months then divide by the filled correction officer positions for those 3 months.
