County Money to be Used for Paseo del Norte Expansion

4:36 PM

Bernalillo County – Bernalillo county District 4 commissioner, Walt Benson, has dedicated $100,000 for the Paseo del Norte expansion project in the northwest part of the county.  County commissioners backed the funding designation for the Paseo del Norte project at its March 8 meeting.

More specifically, the money is directed for construction costs related to the Paseo del Norte and Unser Boulevard intersection.

“For years we’ve been seeing a big influx of people to the far northwest area near Ventana Ranch,” says Bernalillo County Commissioner Walt Benson.  “This funding will be a direct benefit to the residents in the area and expand one of the most highly used roadways in the county.”

The City of Albuquerque says the design phase of the expansion has been funded.  Construction of the project is expected to begin in 2022.  The full expansion of Paseo del Norte will run from Calle Nortena on the east end to Rainbow Road on the west end.
