Multi-Million Dollar Housing Project Announcement and the Fourth Annual Mental Health on the Plaza EventCivic Plaza

In recognition of May being Mental Health Awareness Month, Bernalillo County will be hosting their fourth annual Mental Health on the Plaza event and making a major announcement with the City of Albuquerque.

Bernalillo County and the City of Albuquerque are once again collaborating on a behavioral health-focused project through the Behavioral Health Initiative. Tomorrow they will announce a multi-million dollar, Single-Site Housing Project with HopeWorks.

The 42-unit complex will break ground later this fall, will provide housing and services to individuals with a behavioral health condition who were living on the streets or in a precarious housing situation, who have also recent history of frequently utilizing emergency room or detox services.

This announcement will be made at the Mental Health on the Plaza event, where more than 55 Behavioral Health providers gathered to share information, resources and services to individuals living with a behavioral health condition. Family members also attended the event to garner information and ask questions about navigation the behavioral health system. ‘Behavioral Health’ is an all-encompassing phrase which includes mental illnesses and/or addictions.
