Bernalillo County – The Metropolitan Detention Center has been made aware of a potential “Bail Bond scam” involving the victim by calling them on the phone and telling them that their family member has been arrested.
Callers are requesting that friends or family members can pay a sum of funds to get their loved ones out of custody.

The scammer will then say that in order for their loved one to be released from custody, payment should be made by a specific method to a specific location.

The Metropolitan Detention Center would like to stress to the community at no time will the Metropolitan Detention Center call anyone to request payment for the release of any inmate.

If you feel you have been a victim, please contact the local authorities.
