Bernalillo County – The City of Albuquerque and Bernalillo County officially kicked off their 2020 United States Census count campaign.

City and county officials urged all residents to come forward and be counted as part of the campaign that happens every 10 years in the United States.

“Many of New Mexico, Bernalillo County and Albuquerque federal dollars are tied into the census count,” says Kristina Nelson Albuquerque/Bernalillo County Census Coordinator. “Without those federal dollars many programs and services could lose money and, in turn, cease to exist.”

The United States Census is a survey collecting information about residents and their living and family status. The census does not include questions regarding legal residency.

The Albuquerque/Bernalillo County census campaign has already awarded grant money to partner organizations who have pledged to educate, inform and count various groups within the census area.

The official census count begins March 12 and runs through June.
