Metropolitan Detention Center to Hold Corrections Officers Graduation Ceremony

On Thursday, Aug. 2, 2018, the Bernalillo County Metropolitan Detention Center (MDC) will hold a graduation ceremony for the 211th cadet class.

Fifteen cadets have passed MDC’s rigorous corrections officer academy and will be sworn in to begin their MDC careers immediately. The cadets have spent the past 10 weeks learning everything from MDC policies and procedure, to defensive tactics, communication skills and problem-solving strategies.

Thursday’s event will be held at the Albuquerque location of the Fraternal Order of Police. Albuquerque Lodge #1 is located at 4120 Culter Ave NE. The ceremony will begin promptly at 5:30 p.m. with refreshments to follow. Speakers are expected to include Chief of Corrections Greg Rees, Robert Martinez, president of the Albuquerque chapter of the Fraternal Order of Police and a cadet from the 211th class. The media is invited to cover this event.

While another class of corrections officers is graduating, recruitment for MDC positions is ongoing. For more information about working at MDC, please contact a recruiter at (505) 839-8999 or mdcrecruiting@bernco.gov.
