Second SW Street Corridor Improvements Projects Open House Scheduled

The community is invited to an open house to learn more about several improvements projects that are happening along the Second Street SW corridor from the Valle de Oro National Wildlife Refuge to north of Rio Bravo Boulevard. Project representatives from BernCo, The Nature Conservancy, Albuquerque Bernalillo County Water Utility Authority, Valle de Oro National Wildlife Refuge and Rocky Mountain Youth Corp will be present to share project information about scope, construction status and timelines, along with project plans, drawings and designs.

WHEN: Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2019
Open House from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m.

WHERE: Mountain View Community Center, 201 Prosperity SE

Improvement projects that are currently underway or soon will be along the Second Street SW corridor include:

  • Second Street Federal Lands Access Program Projects, phases 1 and 2
  • Second Street / Rio Bravo Boulevard Intersection Project
  • Second Street trail, landscaping and acceleration lane projects
  • Greening America’s Communities Grant
  • Nature Conservancy’s Urban Tree Planting Project
  • National Recreation and Park Association Great Urban Parks Campaign Grant Second Street Green Infrastructure / Low Impact Development Landscaping Project
  • Southside Water Reclamation Plant Administration Site Improvements and Landscaping
  • Sunport Commerce Center Design Overlay Zone and Sunport Commerce Center Transportation Plan
  • Valle de Oro National Wildlife Refuge Visitor Center and other construction updates

Additionally, representatives from BernCo’s recently opened Animal Care and Resource Center will be onsite. Representatives will share exciting news about the center’s programs and services that include many types of volunteer and recreational opportunities.

The community is encouraged to attend the open house to ask questions and share concerns.
